Auto Insurance Explained

You don’t realize how important your auto insurance is until you need it. We all love to save money, but trying to cut corners on your auto insurance may cost much more in the long run! Do you know what all the coverages on your policy mean?

Bodily Injury Liability: This provides coverage to a victim of an accident in the event of a lawsuit. Bodily injury liability is required in the state of Massachusetts.

Property Damage Liability: This covers the cost of damage that your vehicle caused to another person’s property. Including but not limited to the person’s car, house, or garage.

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist: We don’t know who has auto insurance until there is an accident. Uninsured/underinsured motorist covers damages from an accident caused by an uninsured driver. This also covers the cost of the damages if it is more than an insured motorist’s coverage can pay for.

Personal Injury Protection: This offers medical coverage for the policyholder and their family in the event of an accident. Personal injury protection will also cover pedestrians who were hit by a vehicle in the accident.

Collision: This will cover the damage done to your vehicle when it collides with another vehicle or object.

Comprehensive: Covers damage to your vehicle resulting from something other than a collision. For example if you hit a deer or if a rock breaks your windshield.
